CURRENT PROJECTS
Cross-Town Improvement Project (C-TIP)
The movement of intermodal freight within the U.S. often requires the use of multiple truck/drayage moves in addition to the primary movement by rail or ship. The truck moves are often short, cross-town trips in or near metropolitan areas where freight terminals or warehousing and distribution facilities are located. C-TIP is a five part pilot demonstration that seeks to provide a sustainable solution to cross-town intermodal interchange issues. Fundamentally, the project consists of an integrated set of solutions that are aimed at removing inefficiencies by more closely linking operations among stakeholders, and enabling transportation providers with support tools that facilitate more informed operational decisions.
A Concept of Operations for the C-TIP Initiative has been completed on March 31, 2007 by the FHWA, and can be obtained by clicking here. This document describes the goals and objectives of the project, and describes how a deployed system would work.

Electronic Freight Management (EFM)
EFM is a USDOT R & D program that promotes and evaluates innovative e-business concepts, enabling process coordination and information sharing for supply chain freight partners through public-private collaboration.
Freight Information Highway (FIH)
