TWIC Compliance Dates

The Department of Homeland Security anounced May 2 that the final compliance date for the Transporation Worker Identification Credential, or TWIC, has been changed to April 15, 2009. This is a realignment from the September 25, 2008 date that had been set forth in the TWIC final rule.

Additionaly, the DHS has announced that owners and operators of facilities located within Captain of the Port Zones Boston, Northern New England, and Southeastern New England will need to comply by October 15, 2008.

The compliance date is November 28, 2008 for Cape Fear River, N.C., Corpus Christi, Texas, North Carolina, and Port Arthur, Texas.

The compliance date is December 1, 2008 for Long Island Sound, Charleston, S.C., Savannah, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla.

The compliance date is December 30, 2008 for Baltimore, Md., Delaware Bay, Mobile, Ala., Lower Mississippi River, Ohio Valley, Pittsburgh, Pa., and San Diego, Calif.

The compliance date is January 13, 2009 for Newport News, Va., Morgan City and Baton Rouge, La., St. Louis, Mo., and Miami, Key West and St. Petersburg, Fla.

The compliance date is February 12, 2009 for Barbers Point, Hawaii, and Ketchikan, Juneau, Anchorage, Kodiak and Valdez, Alaska.

The compliance date is February 28, 2009 for Astoria, Portland, Pacific City, Coos Bay and Port Orford, Ore., Longview, Blaine, Neah Bay, Anacortes, Everett, Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia, Wash., and Crescent City, Humboldt, Bodega Bay, Stockton, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Monterey Harbor, Calif, while the compliance date is March 23, 2009 for New York City, Tarrytown, Hempstead and Albany, N.Y.
