CALVERTON, Md., ARLINGTON, Va., and Alexandria, Va., July 27, 2009 — The most highly-anticipated freight transportation event in North America will be held November 15-17, 2009 when the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA), The National Industrial Transportation League (NITL), and the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) hold their co-located conferences in Anaheim, CA.

It also includes IANA and NITL’s annual membership meetings. Over 3,000 senior freight transportation and logistics executives are expected to attend along with over 250 exhibitors.
Following is the run-down of this year’s informative Opening General Session and Super Sessions:
Freight Transportation One Year Later: The New View from Wall Street (Opening Session)
The economy unleashed its wrath on the freight transportation sector again this year, so what do the masters of Wall Street forecast for freight service providers in 2010 (and beyond)? As a follow-up to last year’s highly-successful session Wall Street’s View of Transportation, this interactive town hall-style session will feature more of “The Street’s” most sought after transportation sector analysts sharing their revised outlook for the sector.
Economic Turmoil in a Sea of Financial Changes
(Super Session)
The highly-competitive global shipping industry is well-accustomed to riding the ups-and-downs of normal business cycles. Yet the present worldwide economic recession has negatively impacted international trade and commerce — and the shipping industry — in ways not seen since the Great Depression. This session will examine what the carrier industry may look like in the years ahead and how long carriers can survive without reasonable returns on investment.
Is Your Motor Carrier on the Highway to Health in 2010? (Super Session)
Over capacity, trucking bankruptcies, slowly rising fuel prices, low driver pay, high insurance costs, customer bids, green initiatives, and too much legislation have all affected the motor carrier industry in 2009. This town hall session will feature a panel of seasoned veterans who will examine what happened on the Highway in 2009; and where we are going in 2010.
Where Will We be “Tracking” in 2010 with Our Rail Partners? (Super Session)
Business is down, fuel costs are down, rates are down, and service and capacity are up. This rail and shipper panel will delve into all of these major issues that are facing and defining rail transportation today. This panel will review Capital Investment for the shipping future; the Greening of America; Legislative issues affecting the industry; and what keeps Rail Logistics leaders awake at night.
