Total Rail Intermodal Traffic Moves
For the year, rail intermodal traffic moves totaled 13,641,872, an 5.6% increase from 2004 total volumes.
Total Container Traffic
Container traffic in total represented approximately 81% of all rail intermodal moves, an 5.6% increase over 2004 levels.
Domestic Containers
Domestic container traffic moves totaled 3,140,647 and represented approximately 23% of the total moves. Domestic container traffic increased 0.2% from 2004.
International Containers
ISO container (20-ft, 40-ft, and 45-ft boxes) traffic moves totaled 7,916,963 and represented roughly 58% of the total moves. International container traffic increased 10.8% from 2004.
Trailers
Trailer traffic moves totaled 2,584,262 and represented 18.9% of the total moves. Trailer traffic increased -2.1% from 2004.
IMC Market Activity
IMC intermodal load activity was 1,130,451, a -13.5% decline from 2004 volumes. IMC highway load volumes decreased 9.6% from 2004.
