It is perhaps remarkable that we can track our dinner delivery from moment to moment, but sometimes we can't locate a container within a thousand miles. This lack of visibility—to both the participants within, and the customers of, the intermodal ecosystem—is an acknowledged shortcoming of the business and is hampering its efficiency and growth. What will it take to be able to track an intermodal shipment in real time all the way from overseas origin to the receiver's dock?
